Former Moldovan president and leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon has publicly confirmed that, ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, intense negotiations are underway to establish a unified left-wing political alliance with a pro-Russian orientation. According to Dodon, the plan involves creating a strong bloc that unites several leftist forces to serve as an alternative to pro-European parties currently vying for power. He disclosed this information through his Facebook page, emphasizing that final agreements are likely to be reached by the end of July. Once finalized, the name of this bloc, which is still kept under wraps, will be announced; meanwhile, surveys and focus groups are being conducted to select the most appealing title. Dodon reaffirmed that the formation of such an alliance is entirely plausible and that work is actively progressing. It is worth recalling that the pro-Russian political alliance 'Victory,' led by Ilan Shor, previously announced its intention to submit the required documents for participation in the elections next week, with the well-known Gagauzian governor Eugenia Gutsul expected to headline the list. The Moldovan parliamentary elections are scheduled for September 28 and are expected to have significant political repercussions in the country.
