Complete Recovery of Kyiv After Missile Attack: Fires Extinguished and Rescue Operations Halted
In Kyiv, following reports of a new mass attack by Russian forces, extensive rescue and fire-fighting operations that began late evening on July 3rd and continued into the early hours of July 4th have been successfully concluded. According to the State Emergency Service (SES), by 8:00 p.m. on that same day, all fires caused by the shelling had been extinguished, and emergency rescue works were temporarily halted with plans to resume them on Saturday morning. Currently, emergency services have completed debris removal at one of the affected sites, with further safety monitoring ongoing. A total of over 1,280 tons of debris, including building remains and trash resulting from destruction, have been cleared. This attack was yet another brutal raid of Russian missiles on the Ukrainian capital just days before July 4th. Preliminary data indicate that between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on July 3rd, Russian military forces launched approximately 550 airborne attack units across Ukraine. Of these, 478 targets were neutralized, yet there were hits recorded in eight locations, and debris fell in 33 spots. As a result of these strikes, 26 civilians sustained injuries, including one child, and unfortunately, one person lost their life. Emergency crews continue working in heightened alert to ensure safety and facilitate recovery from this renewed assault, which further highlights the ongoing struggle for Kyiv’s security and resilience in the face of persistent aggression.
