Ukrainian Security Service Confirms Successful Strikes on Russian Ammunition Depots Near Khartsyzk
The tension and military activity in Ukraine continue to escalate as Kyiv counters Russian aggression with targeted operations. According to recent reports, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced successful operations in the Donetsk region, specifically near the strategically important city of Khartsyzk. It was confirmed that Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles carried out precise strikes on Russian ammunition depots in the village of Velyke Orikhove, located close to Makiivka and Khartsyzk itself. The SBU’s press service reported that late in the evening, explosions rocked the storage sites, followed by a significant secondary detonation of munitions which caused a large-scale fire, challenging firefighters’ efforts to contain it. Khartsyzk, positioned near the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Makiivka, holds crucial strategic value for Russian forces, serving as a logistical and rear base for troop supplies and ammunition. The Russians have established command centers, logistical hubs, and ammunition warehouses there, all considered legitimate military targets under international humanitarian law. Prior to the strikes, videos circulated on social media showing the moment of impact on the ammunition depot in Khartsyzk, confirming the accuracy of Ukrainian attacks. This operation exemplifies Ukraine’s continuing resolve to defend its sovereignty and actively oppose Russian military aggression through precise and impactful military actions.
