Ukrainian Air Forces demonstrate how Britain’s Raven SAM system destroys Russian targets in the sky
The Ukrainian Air Forces have gained a significant tactical advantage in combating Russian air and missile threats thanks to the deployment of the modern RAF-supplied Raven air defense system. This mobile missile complex, armed with AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles, has proven its effectiveness in real combat by successfully targeting various aerial threats of differing types and ranges. The crew, consisting of three personnel — a commander, driver, and operator-guided missileer — can seamlessly rotate roles, ensuring high mobility and quick response times. Designed primarily to destroy drones, cruise missiles, and ideally aircraft and helicopters, the Raven system has become a critical component of Ukraine's air defense network. Notably, the UK government announced that it would deliver an additional five such complexes to Ukraine, supplementing the already provided systems. This decision aligns with the UK’s strategy to support Ukraine by leveraging frozen Russian assets, which part of the funding enables the procurement of these advanced missile systems. The deployment of these systems enhances Ukraine’s aerial combat capabilities, allowing Ukrainian forces to counter diverse threats effectively and safeguard their skies amidst ongoing conflicts.
