Finnish Company Under Investigation for Supplying Low-Quality Body Armor to Ukraine: New Allegations and Criminal Probe
A Finnish corporation has come under scrutiny by law enforcement agencies amid allegations of supplying substandard equipment to the Ukrainian military. According to the Central Criminal Police of Finland, the case involves potential fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering related to a contract valued at approximately 5.7 million euros with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence. The company was contracted to supply ten thousand protective vests to the Ukrainian armed forces, of which only five thousand had been delivered by summer 2022. Investigators have found reason to believe that the quality of the supplied body armor does not meet the contractual standards and raises serious concerns. Ukraine has requested legal assistance in investigating this matter at the end of last year. Currently, two employees of the company have been detained based on preliminary evidence, though one of them does not hold suspect status. The case is expected to go to court for a verdict later this year. Meanwhile, Finland continues to prepare its 29th military aid package for Ukraine, valued at over 143 million euros. The previous, 28th aid package, worth around 200 million euros, was announced in March 2025, reaffirming Finland’s ongoing support for Ukraine amid ongoing conflict.
