Ukrainian Armed Forces Report Advances in Oleksiyivka Area: Troops Push Back Invaders from Sumy
The Ukrainian military leadership has announced significant progress in defending northern regions of the country. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it has become possible not only to stabilize the situation near the settlement of Oleksiyivka but also to push the enemy further away from the city of Sumy. This achievement was made possible through the efforts of Ukrainian defenders who actively hold their positions and carry out counteroffensive operations. Details from the General Staff indicate that the enemy’s advance has been halted along the line linking Yunakovka, Yablunivka, Novomykolaivka, Oleksiyivka, Kyndrativka, and the Russia-Ukraine border, with the Russian forces now positioned closer to Sumy, advancing into the Glushkovsky district of Kursk region. Ukrainian troops are maintaining their defense on designated lines and are preparing for possible new actions, including counterattacks aimed at displacing the occupiers from their current positions. Ukrainian military successes are also confirmed by the liberation of the settlement of Andriivka and progress in the Oleksiyivka area. Meanwhile, Russian forces are reportedly deploying their best brigades in this sector, utilizing long-range artillery, aviation, and strike drones in an attempt to disrupt Ukrainian operations and regain control over these territories. The background to this ongoing confrontation dates back to late June, when Russian forces struck the village of Pishane with artillery, located just a few kilometers from the Sumy border, indicating heightened tension in the region.
