Germany and Ukraine Strengthen Military Cooperation as Defense Industry Delegation Visits Kyiv
A significant development took place in Kyiv, where representatives of Germany's defense industry arrived in the form of a delegation, accompanied by Foreign Minister Johannes Wadulf. This visit marks a new phase in the strategic partnership between Germany and Ukraine, focusing on bolstering Ukraine's defense capabilities through joint enterprise creation, technological exchange, and increased production of military equipment. Wadulf emphasized that the goal is to establish new joint ventures enabling Ukraine to accelerate the manufacturing of vital defense hardware, thereby enhancing national security. He also highlighted that this cooperation could be mutually beneficial, as Ukrainian ingenuity and experience improve the overall quality and innovation of German defense projects. The German minister reiterated that support for Ukraine remains a priority for Berlin, especially amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions. He criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin's calls for peace, labeling them as mere bluff and propaganda aimed at subjugating Ukraine and intimidating Europe. The groundwork for this partnership was laid last fall when a joint enterprise was registered between German defense giant Rheinmetall and Ukraine’s defense industry. Earlier in June, Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced an additional military aid package worth €1.9 billion to support Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty and security, reaffirming Germany’s commitment to active assistance in the ongoing conflict.
