LIVE! ‘De facto LOST’: what does the statement from the Bank mean? / Can world leaders stop Russia?
about the fate of so-called compatriots in Ukraine. Why do elements of the Russian world still attract many Ukrainians? Unsinkable boundless. The Verkhovna Rada once again did not support the suspension of a scandalous deputy from participating in a parliamentary session.
Who patronizes destructive actions in the boardroom and why? [music] Welcome, friends, live on the Espresso TV channel. The second part of the Verdict program.
My name is Sergey Rudenko. Today is Friday, as we have a journalism club every Friday. Over the next 40 minutes, my colleagues and I will talk about what was actually happening in Ukrainian and global politics. Donald Trump's briefing ended just half an hour ago.
The urgent statement that was announced was primarily devoted to domestic American events. But he also talked about Putin, he also talked about Ukraine, and he talked about the American factory that the Russians destroyed on the night of August 21 in Mukachevo. We'll talk about all of this over the next 40 minutes.

Yes, I invite our TV audience and YouTube audience to subscribe to the Espresso channels of Yanina Sokolova and Kateryna Nekrecha. Please support Ukrainian content.
This is very important for promoting our content on YouTube. Since, my dear colleagues, we are asking our viewers whether they understand President Trump's policy towards Ukraine, I will ask you about this as well, if I may briefly. Yanina, but politics is one.
Well, Trump is just so fed up with the Ukraine issue that, given the press conference he gave half an hour ago, Serhiy and I watched it all in fragments. And this again looked like a home for the elderly, who clearly have problems with their psyche and with understanding what they said today and what they will say tomorrow.
And this is sad, and it needs to be treated. But before us is the President of the United States of America. I understood it from the point of view of his attitude as the president of the United States, defending his interests in this story was at the stage when he was going to sign an agreement with us and signed it on minerals.
I still had hope when he flew to Alaska to talk to Putin. And I had a little hope left, Serhiy, and our viewers, when Trump met with European leaders and Zelensky. And there was about a five percent hope that he would finally understand that Putin only understands force.
This is how you need to speak to him at a press conference following the conversation with the Europeans. It seemed to me that the Europeans convinced him of the means.
But no, what happened half an hour ago, well, at least in words, sounds like a farce and a further desire to get out of this story. If within two weeks, friends, who hasn't seen it, Trump just announced it.
"If Zelensky and Putin don't agree on something within two weeks, he will decide what to do," Trump said. Maybe we can get out of this story, the US president hinted.
Thank you, Yanino. Well, I'll say this: Trump literally said this: "Maybe I'll impose sanctions, maybe I won't, and maybe nothing will happen at all." Well, the answer was something like this. and said that he would look into whose fault it was in this situation, actually comparing and putting Ukraine and Russia on the same level, that is, Russia.
You can see me now, wait for the camera. That's it. Look at the camera, so Trump is showing his photo. Let 's show you.
We have it in better quality. Now we will show it in full. Super Show and show what he said there for understanding. Well, that's what he says.
We won't make any sound, but it shows light. I can say what he said, and he says that he might come to the 2026 World Cup. "It all depends on what happens," he said, showing this photo and hinting that maybe the meeting will take place and maybe it will be with Putin.
Well, it's hard to get Sergey to put it together. Well, he's just like a teenager now showing a photo with his idol and maybe he'll hang this photo above his head in the bedroom somewhere, where he is with Putin and show it off. Kateryna, what do you think and how do you feel, is Donald Trump's policy towards Ukraine understandable? I'm already watching on YouTube Espresso that most of your viewers don't understand Trump's policy.
I'm joining this, this number. The only thing is that at this stage, these last few weeks, I've caught myself not taking everything that's being said seriously. In what sense? Of course, we have broadcasts.
We discuss it, we try to analyze every statement with a bunch of experts. In recent weeks, they've really been like that somewhere, well, in side of Ukraine. Analysts noticed the change in rhetoric.
And after the visit of European leaders, the head of NATO to Washington, well, in general it seemed that all Ukrainian ideas were under Trump's control, let's say. It would probably be better if the leaders did not leave Washington for Europe, but sat next to him, so that they all discussed the Russian-Ukrainian war and the support of official Kyiv, including the Ukrainian people, in the office.
That's why I save myself with humor and watch this as if it were reality. I'll tell you honestly, because if you take all this seriously, then, uh, your head will hurt a lot at least. These fluctuations of disappointment and the search for hope.
Here, even I am the last optimist, I have already put an end to this. I think that it is worth looking only at the actions. Well, is this, well, it seems to me that this is probably done on purpose, these swings and swings.
Here we support some, here others. Now we We are again blaming each other if the war suddenly doesn't end, and this is equally true for both Kiev and Moscow, which is absolutely unfair, because we all understand who the aggressor is. And here, probably, no miracle will happen and we shouldn't expect a miracle.
And it confuses me a little, because behind these conversations about negotiations, I hear from people, just eavesdropping on conversations, somewhere there and listening to people's dialogues, my acquaintances, neighbors ask me about something, that people really believe that everything can stop like this. Well, that Trump will help and the war will end like this.
I heard a conversation, just so you understand, by the lake on the beach with a married couple. She says: "So what do you think, we'll go to Egypt this winter? What's wrong with your passport?" She turns to her husband. And it was a completely serious conversation.
Of course, we need to hope and have hope in order to hold on, but we probably need to weigh our hopes and not take all this seriously at some stage, because it will break our hearts over and over again. That's how I save myself, let's say.
The meeting between Trump and Zelensky and European leaders in Washington has already been mentioned. A mini-summit that took place in the White House.
He, in principle, announced a meeting with Zelensky and Putin, and the same Donald Trump spoke about it. And now we see how, in principle, the Kremlin, as they say, is falling into a deep freeze and trying to say that such a meeting will happen, but it may happen after all the issues have been worked out, when all the groups have reached some kind of agreement.
Although in fact, objectively speaking, if Putin now agrees to a meeting with Zelensky, what am I not I believe it, because Putin has already said a million times that Zelensky is supposedly an illegitimate president. Everyone in the world knows that Putin is illegitimate, but he continues to be considered the ruler of Russia, if not the tsar.
Well, at least that's how they perceive him. Well, what do you think, what's the point of this whole story with this meeting, which even Trump doesn't believe will happen? Because he said that if they don't meet, I wo n't take part in it anymore and I won't act as some kind of arbitrator, or mediator, or person who will participate in a trilateral meeting. Why was this story about the meeting invented? Because, and I think that the American side actually invented it, because the Russians are not in a big hurry to meet with Zelensky.
Not quite like that. When Zelensky met with Trump in Alaska, one of the messages that was being conveyed to him was henchmen, these cronies who were with him, I remember, there was a saying and Ushakov, I think, said that, they say, and Lavrov too, that the president is ready to meet with Zelensky. And this was a message that they were throwing out to Serhiy and our viewers to give them a reason to start dragging out even longer.
I really talked about this a month ago. I don't want to say that I'm some kind of Nostradamus, but I really talked about this a month ago. That is, when I realized that Trump is now leading to the story of a meeting with Putin, it is not profitable for Putin to end this war, friends.
Well, it is not profitable for him. First, his economic situation, even the story with mobilization, even the story with that military machine that they started, it is all completely locked into the war. If Putin ends the war, then he will need to sort it all out, and it is impossible to sort it out at the moment.
How impossible to explain why he screwed up so much lives. Forgive me for saying so, but you can say about this nonsense, and uh, imposed sanctions, deprived the economy of all life. That is, if he comes out of this story on terms that are interesting to Ukraine, Europe, and even with security guarantees and some status, I do n't know with what, those Donbass and Crimea, then he simply lost, you understand? That's why he won't end this war.
Despite the fact that Trump, you heard, had his microphone turned on when they sat down at the table, they were already stirring it up, Western snakes. And he says Macron, before sitting down at the table in the White House, Trump says that listen, I really think that he agrees to end the war.
It seems to me that he wants a deal. He's a great persuader. Listen, he's a KGB guy. That's why they will continue to stall for time and maybe there will even come a time when he meets with Zelensky and then they will also stall for time after that. That's why Katya spoke today about Ukrainians who are preparing for a truce.
But it's true. We hear it everywhere and that's normal, friends. We want an end to this hell. We want it on fair terms. Did you hear the poll? But we need to understand that in order not to be disappointed, we need not be fascinated.
We need to move according to a negative scenario. Let's keep it in mind that the war will continue. And, unfortunately, this scenario is negative, but it is realistic.
