Imagine your parents openly supporting Russia. They despise your choice to fight for Ukraine, but after your death at the front, they are the ones who, by law, receive millions in compensation. This is exactly what threatens to happen to the fallen soldier Pylyp Averenkov.

He's straight, you know, how the pieces of the puzzle came together and his whole personality developed into what he was supposed to be. And before that, he traveled a lot, studied the languages, cultures, uh, of different countries.

At the same time, he traveled to various unusual countries. He spoke Farsi. He was in Jordan, in Israel, and in Iran back then. I probably wouldn't go now, but I did then.

And what was he by profession, Marino? For studies. He is a nuclear power plant engineer, but he also taught English, was a professional coffee drinker, and was a tour guide at a museum of interesting science. In general, he took on a lot of tasks and usually brought them to a professional level.

His last profession was as an English teacher. I'm also an English teacher, so we really got along here. So, friends, Pelip served in the Vovki da Vinci unit.

I learned about this story from Alina Mikhailova. Pelyp died on April 2 of this year during a combat mission in the village of Nadiyivka. This is Donetsk region.

I joined the infantry because I wanted to gain real war experience and then train other comrades. This was one of his combat exits. Philip really wanted to take part directly in the fighting, although he was persuaded to do various things.

He really wanted to be an instructor over time, because he's a teacher, and he was very good at it. And he believed that in order to become a good instructor, to teach others, you need to be able to do everything.

Therefore, he begged very much to be transferred to the infantry. And although he held various positions, he died as an infantryman. Before his death, Cody wrote a personal directive according to which all payments in the event of his death, which was UAH 15 million, were to go to his wife, Marina.

He didn't want his parents, who support the Russian Federation and don't support their son, to receive anything. This was his principled position.

Even during his lifetime, Cody wrote publicly on his telegram. Next, friends, the quote: "My family is a spear that stuck in me." It was very painful to pull it out, but I managed. Next question.

How can I make sure my family doesn't receive a penny in the event of my death? They don't deserve this money. End of quote.

I think that at that moment he did not know that there were special clauses in some resolutions that would not fully fulfill his will. And when I was ready to submit documents to the CCC a few months ago, I was informed that Pylyp's parents were entitled to a share of the funds.

Philip emphasized many times during his time in the military that he did not want any part of the funds to go to his family. This resolution, due to which the last will of the soldier cannot be fulfilled, is the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of February 28, 2022, number 168.

Due to this resolution, the wife does not receive all the funds, but only half. The other half is also owned by the parents, because they are considered unable to work. Well, they are now retired.

This is what the document says. Regardless of the content of the personal order written by the soldier, the right to receive 50% of the money that would have belonged to each of them if there had been no personal order is given to the soldier's children, his adult disabled children, disabled widow/widower, and disabled parents. Pylyp's father did not recognize his son's choice to defend Ukraine.

and broke off contact with him. He just joined the army and began to speak exclusively in the state language. The parents continue to have close relations with relatives in the aggressor country who support Putin's aggressive regime.

Philip's sister voluntarily left for Russia in the year 22. Philip's nephew will receive a military education in Russia. In the screenshots, you can see the avatar of this nephew, Russian soldiers, and Wagner groups in the profile description of his nephew Philip, that is, his sister's son.

It is no wonder why Philip did not want these people to receive any payments in the event of his death. Cody's wife Marina is fighting not for money, but for the fulfillment of her husband's will.

says that the state should change the law, the resolution, to respect the will of the military. And even if this doesn't happen specifically in her case, she would really like it to change in the future for other families. It was my husband's will not to give them a single penny.

And now I am fighting to ensure that his will is fulfilled. The point here is not only not particularly about the money, but also about the will of the serviceman. If he wrote an official statement about this, he had reasons for it and this will must be respected by the state.

Now, our parents and the parents of those who died are probably watching us. I know that in some families where there is conflict between parents and spouses, this usually happens, and then it all drags on for a very long time, because in addition to compensation, there is also property, well, many other things. You, as the wife of a serviceman who died for our country and had a will of your own, how would you see the resolution of this story for other wives, and sometimes with children.

and sometimes with children who need to be raised further, just to make it fair. Marina, this is my goal now. I don't really hope that my personal case will have any success, but I do hope that in the future, military personnel and their families will be fairly provided with both funds and respect.

Therefore, I think that the state should ensure that the Law of Ukraine on Social Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families, as well as Resolution 168, guarantee the fulfillment of the will of the military personnel unconditionally, without deviations, without mandatory portions that would not be specified in this order. We need to make changes to this law and this resolution.
