SBU Opens Criminal Case Against businessman Timur Mindich Over Activities in Russia
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is currently investigating the activities of prominent Ukrainian businessman and co-owner of the ‘Kvartal 95’ studio, Timur Mindich, regarding his diamond business operations in Russia.
According to Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the investigation is conducted under Article 111-2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which targets aiding an aggressor state.
Mindich has long maintained business interests in Russia, even after officially ceasing to be co-owner of the enterprise in December 2024.Previous investigations revealed that he built his diamond empire based on assets formerly owned by oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyi.
In 2024, Mindich paid over $500,000 in taxes and fees to the Russian budget.
Despite leaving the Russian company in late 2024, his business continues to operate, launching military projects and collaborating with Russia’s military-industrial complex.
While the investigation is still underway and expectations for quick results are low, experts emphasize the importance of documenting the legal fact of this case to facilitate further proceedings.
