Czech Parliament Responds to Speaker’s Decision Regarding Ukrainian Flag

Chas Pravdy - 06 November 2025 22:44

A significant event unfolded within the Czech Parliament, drawing attention from both the public and political circles across the country.

Following the decision by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura, to remove the Ukrainian flag from the facade of the parliamentary building, several factions responded with a symbolic act of defiance.

Representatives from the conservative ODS party, liberals from STAN, and the Pirate Party immediately raised Ukrainian flags to express solidarity and support for the values they deem important.

Protesters emphasized that Okamura’s action demonstrated indifference to core principles of solidarity and bravery, which the Ukrainian people uphold in their fight against Russian aggression.

They underlined that the Ukrainian flag would return to its rightful place — the parliament building’s facade — and did so with a profound sense of unity and support for Ukrainians.

This reaction is highly symbolic, highlighting the steadfast stance of the Ukrainian community and its ongoing struggle for independence and sovereignty amid challenging times.

Politicians nationwide and civic activists called for unity and reaffirmed support for Ukraine, recognizing the importance of international solidarity in the modern world.
