Serbia’s arms production surpasses France: Vucic proposes long-term EU agreement, hinting at possible supplies to Ukraine
In a recent interview, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that his country currently manufactures significantly more munitions than France.
He proposed establishing a long-term contract between Serbia and the European Union, which could enable the utilization of Serbia’s stockpiles for the benefit of Europe.
Vucic emphasized that Serbia’s arsenals are full and capable of supplying ammunition not only to the EU but also directly to Ukraine if necessary.”Our warehouses are full, and we are increasing production further.
Serbia is ready to supply Europe with weapons and ammunition under long-term agreements,” he told journalists.
He also expressed the belief that such cooperation would make a substantial contribution to regional security.Vucic highlighted that Serbia does not want to be seen as a country continuously supplying ammunition to warring parties.
“We aim to collaborate with European armies; we already cooperate militarily with our friends in Africa, Asia, and other continents, and we are ready to expand our presence alongside European forces,” he said.When asked about the status of Serbia’s proposal to supply ammunition to the EU, Vucic replied that he was still awaiting a final response.
He also advised asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky which Balkan country has provided the most financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
“You might be surprised by the answer,” he added.Previously, Vucic expressed disappointment over Russia’s gas blackmail, noting that Russia is trying to imply potential restrictions if Ukraine nationalizes the NIS oil company.Serbia’s initiative to increase arms production and its possible supplies to the EU has become a topic of international discussion, indicating new scenarios in European security and energy politics.
