US and China agree to establish direct military communication to prevent conflicts

Recently, a significant development has taken place in international relations between the two leading global powers—The United States of America and the People’s Republic of China.

According to US Defense Secretary Peter Gagset, these countries have agreed to create a dedicated direct communication channel between their armed forces aimed at preventing potential military conflicts and misunderstandings in crises.

This initiative was the result of a recent phone call between Gagset and China’s Defense Minister, Admiral Dong Jun.

Both sides emphasized the importance of establishing ongoing dialogue and cooperation mechanisms, which would help avoid escalation of issues in the future.

They also agreed to continue negotiations to refine this initiative and outline specific steps for its implementation.

Official reports state that the meeting of defense officials took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, amid rising tensions following recent diplomatic encounters between US and Chinese leaders.

These joint efforts in the military sphere send a positive signal regarding the possibility of easing tension in the Asia-Pacific region.

Gagset stressed that ensuring peace and stability remains the top priority for both countries.

Simultaneously, he called on Southeast Asian nations to enhance maritime cooperation to counter China’s increasing aggressiveness in the South China Sea.

Against the backdrop of global diplomacy, US President Donald Trump stated in November that his October meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping would bring ‘eternal peace,’ and the negotiations’ results were quite positive, with nearly all issues on the agenda reaching agreements.
