Kremlin Invites Foreign Journalists to Temporarily Occupied Regions of Ukraine: A Strategy of Disinformation and Propaganda

Chas Pravdy - 01 November 2025 09:24

Recent developments indicate a new phase in Moscow’s propaganda efforts aimed at shaping a more favorable narrative for the international community.

According to independent sources, Russia is actively sending invitations to foreign journalists to visit temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories—Pokrovsk in Donetsk region and Kupiansk in Kharkiv region.

The purpose of these visits is to create an illusion of ‘ongoing stability’ and demonstrate Russia’s control over the region.

Notably, Julian Röpke of the German publication Bild received a personal invitation from the Russian administration, supported by a message from the Kremlin claiming that hostilities could cease in these areas and humanitarian corridors could be organized for the press.

However, these actions raise doubts about their true intentions, as frontline realities tell a different story.

Ukrainian officials and military leaders suggest that these proposals are designed to fake activity, creating a smokescreen and manipulating public perception.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities emphasize that their forces continue their fight and do not fall for propaganda provocations.

In essence, Kremlin’s moves are part of a broader information strategy to spread disinformation and construct a ‘false reality’ in international media and public opinion, aiming to influence perceptions and obscure the true situation on the ground.
