Global Support for Ukraine: G7 Countries Condemn Russian Strikes on Energy Infrastructure and Promise Assistance in Recovery
At recent international gatherings, the G7 nations—comprising some of the world’s leading industrialized countries—clearly expressed their stance on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in the energy sector.
Ministers of energy and environment from these countries, gathered in Toronto, Canada, for a two-week summit, unanimously condemned the recent missile and bomb strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, reaffirming their support for the Ukrainian people in their fight for safe and stable energy independence.
According to the official statement, these attacks have posed a serious threat to the safety and lives of Ukrainians, damaging civilian infrastructure, destroying power supplies, and undermining the country’s energy security.
The ministers emphasized that G7 will continue working to provide Ukraine with the necessary aid to repair and restore the damaged energy facilities, ensuring a stable energy supply for Ukrainian citizens and supporting the country’s economy.
In line with these efforts, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced expedited payments as part of the financial assistance package to Ukraine.
She reported that Canada has already transferred $10 million of the planned $70 million contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
These funds aim to quickly assist in repairing and restoring the destroyed energy infrastructure, which has been targeted by Russian strikes.
This demonstrates the international community’s solidarity with Ukraine and its ongoing efforts to stabilize the country’s energy sector.
