U.S. Rapidly Deploys Rescue Teams to Caribbean Islands Hit by Devastating Hurricane Melissa

Chas Pravdy - 30 October 2025 03:01

The United States of America is actively mobilizing its resources to provide assistance to countries in the Caribbean region affected by the destructive Hurricane Melissa.

Several dozens of experienced rescue teams, including search and rescue units from different parts of the country, have already been dispatched to the area as part of an urgent response operation.

According to sources within the U.S.

State Department, personnel from Washington, Miami, and Costa Rica, along with local rescue teams from Los Angeles, Fairfax, and other districts, are en route.

They are expected to arrive within the next 24 to 48 hours and join local efforts in Jamaica, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic, where they will be based to aid Haiti.

Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest in the Atlantic’s recorded history, initially struck Jamaica and subsequently weakened after impacting Cuba.

The storm brought fatalities and extensive destruction of infrastructure across Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica, creating an urgent need for international aid.

U.S.

officials assured that their response would be decisive, swift, and effective, despite the ongoing federal government shutdown.

All necessary supplies—hygiene kits, temporary shelters, food, and sanitation equipment—are already stockpiled and ready for rapid deployment.

The Pentagon and Southern Command are considering military support options, including the transportation of personnel and materials to remote affected areas, though specific decisions are still under review.

Officials clarified that there are no current plans to evacuate thousands of American citizens living or present on the affected islands, as most will be able to travel via commercial flights or ships once airports and ports reopen.

The overall effort aims to swiftly address the aftermath and restore stability in the region, providing critical aid to those most in need.
