Five Russian airports temporarily shut down amid drone threat concerns

Chas Pravdy - 30 October 2025 02:25

On the night of October 30, several major airports across Russia temporarily ceased operations due to reports of potential security threats.

According to Russian sources citing Rosaviatsiya, there were initial reports of temporary restrictions at airports in Volgograd, Kaluga, Saratov, and Yaroslavl.

Later, after midnight, the authorities imposed restrictions at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that the measures were taken due to the interception of two drones allegedly flying towards the capital.

The details of the incident remain uncertain, with no official confirmation that drones were actually shot down, although this version has been actively promoted by Russian officials and media.
