Belarusian Provocations in Lithuanian Airspace: Part of Russia’s Hybrid Warfare Against Europe

Chas Pravdy - 30 October 2025 01:53

The international community is experiencing increasing tensions due to provocations by Belarus in Lithuanian airspace, which experts consider to be part of a broader hybrid warfare strategy conducted by Russia against the European Union.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andriy Sibiga, expressed solidarity with Lithuania and condemned the actions of the Belarusian authorities, describing them as components of Russia’s systematic hybrid operations against democratic countries.

He emphasized that such provocations disrupt civil aviation and pose regional security risks.

According to the minister, Ukraine supports Europe in countering these aggressive steps and calls for unity, strength, and targeted resistance against regimes striving to destabilize the situation.

The background to these events includes Lithuania’s decision to close several border crossings following the incident involving Belarusian meteokylares, and plans to halt transit to Kaliningrad.

Lithuanian authorities underscore the importance of remaining vigilant and active in response to threats emanating from the Brest region to protect national interests and citizen security.
