President Donald Trump’s three-week Asian tour was orchestrated through a carefully planned meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
While official events unfolded in the opulent palaces of Tokyo and the historic Kyongju Museum, the most significant moment took place in an informal setting at the Kimhae International Airport in Busan, far from the bustling APEC forums.
CNN sources indicate that the choice was motivated by the need to avoid public attention and create a relaxed environment for intense discussions on bilateral relations.
Initially, it was planned that Trump would leave South Korea earlier to meet Xi in Pyongyang before departure; however, schedule adjustments made a morning meeting more feasible for both leaders.
The two heads of state concluded their meeting in Busan around 12:50 local time, shaking hands before departing separately.
Xi Jinping remained in South Korea for participation in the APEC summit, while Trump departed for the United States aboard Air Force One, wrapping up his Asian tour.
