U.S. Investments in Ukraine’s Military Support: Anticipating an Additional $2 Billion via the PURL Initiative
In the United States, active efforts are underway to attract new financial resources to support Ukraine’s defense.
According to U.S.
NATO Ambassador Matthew Wietaker, in the coming months, an additional $2 billion is expected to be raised through the PURL mechanism — an innovative procurement tool initiated in mid-2025.
Wietaker noted that over $2 billion has already been collected so far.
He is confident that within a few months, this amount will significantly increase, and in 2026, up to $15 billion could be mobilized through this initiative.
These funds will be allocated for the purchase of vital weaponry necessary for Ukraine’s self-defense and ongoing battles on the front lines.
The ambassador emphasized that such support signals increased European and NATO engagement and demonstrates a collective effort to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and stabilize regional security.
The PURL program, launched in July 2025 by President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, involves NATO allies purchasing American weapons for Ukraine.
As of October this year, over $2 billion has been accumulated through this system, with most NATO member states joining the effort.
