Zelensky discusses the current energy situation in Ukraine: regions with the lowest power supply and ongoing recovery efforts

Chas Pravdy - 27 October 2025 22:25

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a recent video address, provided an in-depth analysis of the country’s energy system amidst ongoing combat and infrastructure damage.

He emphasized that, despite challenging conditions, especially in regions like Chernihiv and border areas, repair crews, emergency services, and energy companies are working tirelessly to restore power across Ukraine as quickly as possible.

Zelensky highlighted the heroic perseverance of Ukrainian energy workers who continue to operate around the clock to stabilize the energy supply.

He also noted intense fighting near Pokrovsk, where Russian forces are attempting to seize the city and surrounding districts, with fierce battles ongoing.

The president pointed out that the largest strikes currently occur in Zaporizhzhia region, where drones are used by Russians to target critical energy infrastructure, which significantly impacts the stability of electricity supplies.

Despite these difficulties, Ukraine remains committed to restoring its energy system, a crucial element for national security and functioning.

He announced that on October 28, some regions will face scheduled power restrictions, carefully planned to maintain balance in the system — affecting both residents and industrial enterprises.

These restrictions, initiated on October 10 due to massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, have expanded to most regions, including Kyiv and surrounding areas, as well as northern, central, and eastern parts of the country.

Authorities continue their efforts to restore stability and minimize adverse effects on the population and economy.
