Ukraine Confirms Invitation to U.S. Diplomat Vittoff: Open Door Policy

Chas Pravdy - 27 October 2025 15:36

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga officially confirmed that Ukraine has warmly invited U.S.

officials, including President’s special envoy Steve Vittoff, to visit the country.

During a joint press conference with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in Kyiv, Sibiga emphasized that such visits are crucial for strengthening Ukrainian-American relations, and added that Ukraine is always pleased to welcome our American partners.

‘We have officially extended invitations to high-ranking U.S.

officials, including Steve Vittoff, and we look forward to their visit.

Our openness demonstrates our commitment to cooperation and dialogue,’ he said.

Moreover, Sibiga highlighted that for U.S.

allies working with Ukraine, no additional invitation is necessary — visits occur at the state level and remain open.

This development comes amidst recent meetings, notably on August 29, when Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak met with Vittoff to discuss implementation of agreements reached between Ukrainian President Zelensky and U.S.

President Trump.

Vittoff has previously visited Russia multiple times, with the latest meeting with President Vladimir Putin occurring on August 6, lasting three hours, during which signals regarding the Ukrainian issue were exchanged.

Russian officials have also stressed the importance of the U.S.-Russia dialogue for global security.

In October, Trump commented on the meeting, noting that Vittoff initially knew little about Russia or Putin, was surprised by the length of the talks, and was unsure of the content discussed, expecting a short 15-20 minute meeting, but ending up in a five-hour discussion.
