Czech Government to Continue Supporting Ukraine Despite Political Changes
In the Czech Republic, there is a strong conviction that the new government will maintain its support for Ukraine, regardless of shifts in the country’s political landscape.
According to Tomas Kopečný, a government representative on Ukraine’s reconstruction, support programs will remain, although their implementation may take different forms.
The political forces that have entered parliament are aware of the importance of this activity for the Czech economy and international reputation.
Kopečný emphasized that this course is likely to persist or even intensify, especially given the active participation of the National Development Bank, which is already implementing major projects in Ukraine and has received substantial funding—200 million euros—from the European Commission.
Amid government changes, confidence must be preserved in military and humanitarian cooperation, including supplies of ammunition and weapons production initiatives.
Experts highlight that Ukraine support remains a strategic priority for the Czech Republic, regardless of political shifts.
Meanwhile, the populist billionaire Andre Babiš and his ANO party, negotiating government formation with ultra-right and Eurosceptic factions, raise questions about the future foreign policy.
Ukraine’s ambassador to Czechia, Vasyl Zvarich, assures that there are no grounds to believe support may be curtailed if Babiš’s government takes power.
International analysts like Volodymyr Kravchenko suggest that the situation remains tense, and the extent of continued support hinges on future government decisions in Kyiv’s ongoing conflict with Russia.
