British Prime Minister claims US sanctions on Russian oil strengthen Ukraine’s position
Amid ongoing international developments, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized that recent US sanctions against Russian oil and gas sectors play a crucial role in strengthening Ukraine’s defenses and weakening Russia’s aggression.
In an interview with Bloomberg, he highlighted that these measures significantly improve Ukraine’s strategic stance in countering Russian advances.
According to Sunak, notable progress has been achieved over the past week, with intensified sanctions including restrictions on all major oil companies, such as those imposed by former President Trump and the latest EU sanctions packages, which have severely impacted the Russian economy.
The Prime Minister also revealed discussions with President Trump about supplying Ukraine with advanced long-range missile systems, specifically Tomahawk rockets.
This effort aligns with the goal of reducing Europe’s and Ukraine’s dependence on Russian energy resources, especially as the US has committed to phasing out reliance on Russian oil and gas.
Ukrainian President Zelensky previously appealed to Trump, emphasizing the critical need for advanced missile systems to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Overall, Western allies are focusing not only on economic sanctions to pressure Russia but also on empowering Ukraine to enhance its security through military support.
