Time Change: Ukraine Switches to Standard Time, Aligning with European Time Zones

Chas Pravdy - 26 October 2025 07:19

Today at 4 a.m., Ukrainians set their clocks back by one hour, marking the country’s transition to standard time.

This practice is common across many nations worldwide, aligning with seasonal daylight changes in autumn.

With this shift, Ukraine returns to the Eastern European Time zone (UTC+2), facilitating better synchronization with most European countries.

The majority of European nations also switch to winter time during this period, maintaining stable time differences.

For example, when it is 7:00 a.m.

in Ukraine, it is 6:00 a.m.

in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic; 7:00 in Moldova and Romania; 6:00 across Germany, Spain, and Norway; and 5:00 in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s time is already 9:00, and Estonia’s is 7:00.

It is also worth noting that on July 16, 2024, Verkhovna Rada approved draft law No.

4201, which proposes establishing a unified Kyiv time (UTC+2) without seasonal clock adjustments.

However, the president has not yet signed this law, leaving the final decision on winter time still pending.
