Serbia Expresses Willingness to Facilitate Peace Talks Between Ukraine and Russia
The Serbian government has officially announced its readiness to serve as a mediator in peace negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, aiming for a swift end to the armed conflict.
Foreign Minister Marco Jurić stated that Serbia is prepared to organize and host talks, offering its good offices and a neutral platform for discussion.
He emphasized that the primary goal is to immediately cease hostilities and find a compromise that satisfies both parties while respecting international law and territorial integrity.
Jurić highlighted Serbia’s support for the principles of sovereignty of all nations, including Ukraine, and its proud position as a country situated at the crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe.
He also noted the close diplomatic ties with the United States and Serbia’s commitment to maintaining an independent foreign policy.
Recently, world leaders have been actively discussing international mediation efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently announced his country’s readiness to host Russian and American leaders at any time.
This development comes amid the US administration’s expression of disappointment with the pace of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As a result, Serbia’s role as a neutral nation in this crisis gains particular significance in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Ukraine.
