Significant Warming on the Horizon: Meteorologists Forecast Weather Changes in Ukraine and Global Climate Trends
After weeks of cold and unstable weather, Ukraine is experiencing a period of noticeable warming, as forecasted by meteorologists.
Leading Ukrainian weather experts predict that in the latter half of October, warm and humid air masses of Mediterranean origin will dominate the country’s climate.
This will be caused by atmospheric fronts moving in from southwestern Europe, leading to rain of varying intensities and, in southern regions, potential short-lived thunderstorms.
Overall, temperatures are expected to align with climate normals, though in some areas—particularly in the south and center—they may rise 1–3°C above normal, indicating unexpected climate shifts.
Meanwhile, meteorologists warn of upcoming cold spells, heavy rains, and storm winds that could disrupt weather stability in the near future.
The upcoming weekends—the 25th and 26th of October—will bring rainy conditions, with wet snow in the mountainous areas and unfavorable weather conditions across Ukraine.
In the west, light rain or wet snow is expected overnight and in the morning, with daytime temperatures around 8–13°C; wind will predominantly blow from the west at gusts up to 20 m/s.
In the north and central regions, heavy rains, sometimes with thunderstorms, are forecasted, with temperatures ranging from +8 to +14°C.
The south will experience short-term rains with thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 20 m/s; daytime temperatures will range from +12 to +17°C.
Globally, the climate situation is alarming: in 2024, the average temperature on Earth exceeded pre-industrial levels by 1.5°C for the first time, setting new records.
Extreme weather events have become more frequent, and projections indicate that temperatures could rise by another 2.7°C over the next hundred years, posing significant challenges for life on our planet.
