Donald Trump Sets Conditions for a Meeting with Vladimir Putin: A Significant Pause in Diplomatic Relations
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has declared that he will not engage in a face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin until a concrete agreement to end the war in Ukraine is achieved and formalized.
During his recent comments to journalists in Doha, he emphasized that he refuses to waste his time on negotiations that do not promise tangible results.
“You need to understand that I will not waste my time aimlessly; we must reach an agreement before I agree to a meeting,” Trump stated.
This decision follows his earlier statement last week, when he changed his mind about participating in a summit in Budapest with Putin.
In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that the scheduled meeting might be postponed.
A White House spokeswoman, Caroline Levitt, mentioned that the future of the U.S.-Russia dialogue remains uncertain, but there is potential for the leaders to meet later if conditions favor progress toward resolving the conflict.
