US Strikes Drug Cartel Vessel in Caribbean: Six Killed
The United States has conducted a significant military operation targeting international drug trafficking networks in the Caribbean Sea.
According to the US Department of Defense, American forces launched a precise air and sea strike on a vessel suspected of transporting drugs for criminal organizations in the region.
The attack resulted in six fatalities—details are still emerging, but reports indicate victims were members of the cartel.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that the original mission aimed to destroy the ship identified by US intelligence as linked to activities of the transnational cartel ‘Tren de Aragua.’ Official statements emphasize that this operation is part of the ongoing US fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, which they equate with terrorist activity.
Hegseth also noted that authorities discovered the vessel associated with ‘Tren de Aragua,’ a designated terrorist organization, leading to a hardline stance.
The US has ramped up maritime operations in the Caribbean and Pacific since September, attacking several vessels in these waters.
Recently, President Trump suggested the possibility of initiating ground operations in Venezuela, prompting Caracas to vocally oppose what they called a ‘mad war,’ calling for diplomatic solutions instead.
