UK Accelerates Supply of Thousands of Missiles to Enhance Ukrainian Air Defense

Chas Pravdy - 24 October 2025 20:40

In a strategic move to bolster Ukraine’s defenses amid ongoing conflict, the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced a significant acceleration in his country’s missile production program, aimed at delivering over 5,000 advanced missiles to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense during the upcoming winter months.

This decision forms part of broader efforts to shield civilian populations and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.

According to Sunak, the program has already created hundreds of jobs in Belfast and involves manufacturing an additional 140 missiles to help Ukraine withstand the harsh winter conditions.

He further stated that by the end of the year, the coalition of determined countries plans to implement further measures to isolate Russian oil and gas from the global markets through stringent sanctions.

The United States has already taken decisive actions in this regard, and Britain is calling on other nations to join in.

Additionally, Sunak expressed hope for progress in recovering Russian assets, which would be used to finance Ukraine’s defense needs.

The UK also urges increased military pressure on Vladimir Putin by providing Ukraine with long-range weapons.

It was also reported earlier this year that Ukraine would receive over 5,000 LMM RapidRanger intercept missiles and launchers.

The latest coalition meeting in early September, involving representatives from more than 30 countries across Europe and beyond, demonstrates the international community’s strong support for Ukraine at this critical juncture.
