Zelensky Declares: China Is Not Interested in Ukraine’s Victory or Supporting Russia
During his daily briefing in Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a striking statement regarding China’s stance in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
He noted that Beijing’s official position is that it does not support Ukraine in its fight for independence and sovereignty, while simultaneously not showing overt allegiance to Russia.
Zelensky emphasized that China refuses to assist Ukraine militarily and has no intention of helping it win the war.
At the same time, he pointed out that China is not interested in a weakened Russia, which remains a pivotal player in the conflict.
In his words, although there is no direct evidence of arms supplies from China, discussions with high-ranking officials suggest that Beijing opposes US sanctions against Russian oil companies, especially those involved in Russia’s energy sector, considering them unfounded under international law.
This stance raises concerns in Ukraine, as it complicates efforts to involve China as a mediator or potential ally in the ongoing conflict.
