U.S. Imposes Heavy Sanctions on Russian Oil Giants Amidst Military Conflict
The U.S.
Department of the Treasury officially announced new restrictive measures against two of Russia’s largest oil companies — Rosneft and Lukoil.
These sanctions are part of a broad strategy by the United States to counter Russia’s energy sector in response to ongoing military aggression against Ukraine.
Under President Biden’s Executive Order No.
14024, both companies and several of their subsidiaries, which play a significant role in the global energy market, have been added to the sanctions list.
These measures prohibit American entities from engaging in business with these firms and freeze their assets within the U.S.
jurisdiction.
U.S.
officials have called on Moscow to cease military actions immediately and return to diplomatic negotiations to ensure global stability and prevent further escalation of the crisis.
