Donald Trump Prepares to Discuss Ending Russia-Ukraine War with Xi Jinping
Former U.S.
President Donald Trump announced his intention to soon engage in talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to explore avenues for ending the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
According to Trump, during their upcoming meeting, he aims to emphasize China’s potential influence over Moscow to motivate a cessation of hostilities.
He expressed confidence that Beijing could exert diplomatic pressure, possibly through energy resources, to help bring an end to the war.
Trump noted that their discussions would also cover China’s role and how it might impact Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile, he denies that the U.S.
is granting Ukraine permission to use long-range weapons.
The news about a possible meeting surfaced amid plans for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, where the leaders might hold private talks.
Trump also mentioned plans to visit China early next year.
Previously, he canceled his scheduled meeting with Putin in Budapest, explaining that Russia refused to pursue an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine.
