Elon Musk Launches New Marketplace for Buying and Selling Unique User Handles on X

Social media platform X, founded and led by Elon Musk, has officially announced the launch of an innovative platform called X Handle Marketplace, which will become the world’s first marketplace dedicated to buying, selling, and exchanging inactive user handles.

This new service will be available exclusively to Premium Plus and Premium Business subscribers.

According to reports, user names will now be categorized into two groups: free aliases, typically containing full names, lengthy phrases, or alphanumeric combinations, and rare, highly unique or popular handles that will be sold for money.

The prices for these rare handles are expected to range from $2,500 to over seven-figure sums depending on demand and uniqueness.

This means that individuals owning distinctive or popular handles can profit from their resale.

The company emphasizes that this marketplace is not a one-time event but a permanent, ongoing service aimed at boosting paid subscriptions.

The new feature will allow users who purchase a new handle to freeze their old name, with plans to introduce a paid forwarding option in the future to redirect traffic from the old account to the new one.

If a user downgrades their subscription, their handle will revert to the original, and the purchased pseudonym will be lost.

This initiative reflects Musk’s efforts to expand monetization options and attract new paying subscribers, asserting that this service is designed for long-term sustainability.

Additionally, Elon Musk set a world record by becoming the first person whose total wealth exceeded $500 billion, reaffirming his status as the richest person on the planet.
