Czechia Sets Example of Support for Ukraine: Building and Donating a Modern Satellite

Chas Pravdy - 21 October 2025 16:43

As part of a new initiative, Czechia has made a significant move in supporting Ukraine in its fight for security and sustainable development.

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced their plans to build and gift Ukraine a modern Earth observation satellite, which will serve as a critical tool for monitoring and protecting Ukrainian interests.

Officials stated that this satellite will be capable of gathering high-precision data regardless of weather conditions or darkness, substantially enhancing Ukraine’s security, defense, and management capabilities.

The satellite’s production will be carried out by Czech companies experienced in space technologies, particularly in developing small and medium-sized satellites.

The launch is expected within the upcoming months, with full operational capacity targeted by the end of the year.

This initiative marks the first of its kind in Central Europe and demonstrates Czech diplomatic and technological commitment to assisting Ukraine in gaining new levels of independence in information security.

The project continues the memorandum between Czechia and Ukraine within the framework of the governmental strategic support program.

Czech Transport Ministry emphasizes that this technical gift symbolizes strong solidarity and a desire to foster the development of Ukraine’s digital infrastructure and integrate it more securely into European security processes.

Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský commented: “This satellite is our concrete contribution to supporting Ukraine in its efforts to independently monitor its territory and reduce reliance on external factors.” Transport Minister Martin Kupka added that this initiative opens new avenues for regional cooperation in space technology and demonstrates Czechia’s capability to develop advanced technologies with practical applications in security and defense.
