Russia’s Oil Exports to India Continue Despite US Warnings and Trump’s Statements

Chas Pravdy - 20 October 2025 18:31

Despite former US President Donald Trump’s public statements about the possible cessation of Russian oil imports by India, the reality in the market tells a different story.

According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, the export of Russian oil to India remains stable and is even increasing, despite political and economic pressures from the US and Western countries.

Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko confirmed that supplies ‘continue without interruption’ and are conducted according to agreements.

Meanwhile, while US officials talk about purported agreements with India to reduce imports by 50%, officials in New Delhi insist that protecting domestic consumer interests remains a top priority.

Despite assertions from the US about halving purchases, Indian oil industry sources deny such data, stating that import volumes have risen, especially in September 2025, despite sanctions and Western economic pressures.

The question arises: is India consolidating its position as one of the world’s leading buyers of Russian oil? The article explores India’s current energy strategies and their geopolitical implications.
