Bosnia and Herzegovina Deport the Two Russians over Terrorism Suspicions Amid Rising Migration and Security Concerns

Chas Pravdy - 20 October 2025 19:36

Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken the decision to deport two Russian citizens who were found on its territory and are suspected of having ties with terrorist organizations.

According to official sources, these individuals originate from the North Caucasus Federal District and were detected in the Sarajevo region as part of a joint operation between local security agencies and intelligence services.

The deportation occurred on October 17 and was part of security measures aimed at preventing potential threats to national security.

The statement highlighted that these Russians are connected to terrorist groups, and their presence in the region raised concerns among authorities.

Notably, since the start of the Ukraine war, there has been an increase in Chechen migrants using Bosnia and Herzegovina as a transit point to escape persecution or forced conscription into the military.

Under the 2013 agreement, Russian citizens do not require visas to enter the country.

This situation raises questions about migration policies and security protocols.

Meanwhile, Germany has gradually resumed deportations of Russian nationals in 2024 after halting them in previous years, indicating a shift in European approach to this issue.

The region continues to face tensions related to internal political conflicts and regional instability against the backdrop of broader geopolitical challenges.
