Massive Russian Attacks on Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure Cause Widespread Power Outages

Chas Pravdy - 08 November 2025 02:32

On the eve of the critical winter months, Russian forces continue to deliberately target Ukraine’s vital energy infrastructure, leading to widespread power outages across various regions of the country.

During the night from November 8 to 9, Ukrainian energy facilities faced intensive missile and drone strikes, destroying multiple facilities and leaving millions of Ukrainians without electricity.

Minister of Energy, Svitlana Hrynchuk, confirmed that due to damages, emergency power outages are being implemented to stabilize the situation and prevent further catastrophe.

She emphasized that energy workers and rescuers are working tirelessly to restore damaged facilities and eliminate the consequences as soon as it is safe.

According to her, these emergency shutdowns will continue until the energy grid is stabilized, but the government is doing everything possible to ensure Ukrainians have light and warmth this winter.

The minister assured that despite enemy plans, Ukraine will persevere and do everything necessary to protect its people and secure energy safety during the upcoming cold season.
