Zelensky announces large-scale program to strengthen air defense over frontline cities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has taken a significant step toward enhancing security in frontline regions by announcing the development of a comprehensive new program aimed at protecting Ukraine’s airspace over strategically important cities.
According to the head of state, this initiative will include specialized measures designed to effectively counter hostile drones, including drone interception systems and anti-aircraft measures that will prevent unmanned aerial vehicles from penetrating the internal airspace.
The decision was made during the latest Stavka meeting, and the preliminary development of the program has already been completed and is now being prepared for implementation.
Zelensky emphasized that this new program will be developed for all border cities to ensure their safety and to minimize risks posed by potential enemy air and drone attacks.
He also highlighted that a new drone model, capable of effectively replacing Chinese Mavic drones, will soon be launched into mass production to provide an additional layer of protection for Ukraine’s skies.
