Ukraine is actively negotiating with the United States regarding the possibility of acquiring long-range missiles, including precision-guided weaponry, which could significantly enhance the country’s defensive capabilities amid ongoing conflict.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, confirmed that her country is engaged in ‘positive’ and persistent talks about augmenting its military arsenal with modern weapon systems, including Tomahawk missiles.

She emphasized that these negotiations are proceeding in close cooperation with American colleagues and that positive developments have already been achieved, as Ukraine aims to increase its financial resources for purchasing a broader spectrum of military hardware.

The deputy minister highlighted that Ukraine’s requests include not only Tomahawk missiles but also other types of high-precision weaponry, which could potentially change the dynamics on the battlefield.

Additionally, regarding diplomatic negotiations, Stefanishyna noted that President Trump has not ruled out the possibility of supplying these missiles, though it was stressed that no final decision has been made yet.

She also mentioned that in response to frequent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the Ukrainian authorities are focusing on strengthening air defense systems to prevent further destruction and ensure stability in critical regions.

She underlined that securing more modern anti-aircraft systems is a crucial aspect of Ukraine’s defense efforts and countering Russian aggression, as any weakening of resistance could signal to Russia an opportunity to expand its military capabilities.
