In the current strategic landscape of Ukraine’s defense, having highly effective air defense systems capable of rapid response to threats is crucial.

It has now been revealed who will lead this vital sector — Colonel Yuriy Cherevashenko has been appointed as Commander of UAV-based Air Defense Systems, simultaneously serving as the deputy commander of Ukraine’s Air Forces.

This appointment was made through an official order signed by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, following approval from the president.

Notably, Cherevashenko’s career is tied to the creation of the first mobile rapid response air defense brigade, significantly enhancing the country’s defense capabilities.

In recent years, he has focused on developing interceptor drones, a key element of modern protective systems.

The new leader faces complex yet critical challenges.

According to information approved by the military command, he is tasked with accelerating the implementation of drone technologies, particularly interceptors, and strengthening air defense systems with modern weaponry.

President Zelensky emphasizes that this strategy is essential for ensuring Ukraine’s security amid ongoing aggression.
