Two teenagers injured by drone explosion in Chernihiv region
In the Chernihiv region, Novhorod-Siversky district, a concerning incident occurred that highlights the dangers associated with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near populated areas.
Two teenagers, approximately 14-15 years old, sustained injuries after an explosion of a part of a downed Russian drone, according to the State Emergency Service.
Emergency responders report that the youths were mushroom picking in the forest when they approached debris from a drone, which subsequently exploded.
Authorities urge citizens to exercise caution: avoid approaching unknown objects or debris and immediately contact police or emergency services if suspicious items are found.
This incident is not isolated.
Previously, in Chernihiv, agricultural workers uncovered an unexploded drone during harvest, which detonated and resulted in two fatalities and one injury.
Police warn that the combat components of such drones can weigh up to 100 kg, contain powerful explosives, and cause significant destruction.
Some UAVs are also capable of carrying elements for minelaying, increasing the threat level.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises the public to stay vigilant, not to touch unfamiliar objects, and to report suspicious discoveries to authorities to prevent potential tragedies.
