Ukraine and the World Respond to the Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Deception, Recruitment, and the Fight for Truth

Chas Pravdy - 05 November 2025 10:41

In the ongoing war in Ukraine, increasingly many international organizations, civil and human rights groups, and individual countries are raising concerns about the methods of recruitment and use of foreign nationals in Russia’s military operations.

It has been revealed that dozens of foreigners from various countries, notably India, have fallen victim to scams and deception, highlighting a systemic issue.

Accounts from families in Hisar, Haryana, reveal cases where agencies from Russia tricked Indian nationals by promising high salaries and safety, only to send them to the frontlines.

Heroic stories of Sonu Kumar, Aman Puniya, and Mohammed Ahmed illustrate the scale of this problem and pose urgent questions about protecting citizens’ rights and preventing illegal recruitment.

In response, the Indian government has expressed concern and urged Moscow to cease such practices, while the international community calls for proactive measures to safeguard these foreigners and assist their safe return home.
