Scale of Russian Crimes Against Ukraine: New Evidence and International Response

Chas Pravdy - 05 November 2025 14:00

The widespread crimes committed by the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian people have reached new levels.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has handed over to the UN commission detailed evidence that confirms the scale and systematic nature of the aggressor’s wartime atrocities.

Important negotiations took place between Ukrainian law enforcement and international bodies to coordinate further actions for documenting and investigating war crimes in accordance with international standards.

According to Deputy Attorney General Andriy Leshchenko, over 190,000 war crimes have been registered since the onset of the full-scale invasion, with 1,029 Russian military personnel under suspicion, 747 investigative acts brought to court, and more than 200 convicted so far.

These figures demonstrate the organized and targeted character of these acts, which are recognized as part of a genocidal policy aimed at destroying the Ukrainian nation.

Officials emphasize that it is essential not only to prosecute the perpetrators but also to hold political and military leaders accountable, as they implement this destructive policy.

Investigations have also intensified into systematic drone attacks on civilians in the Kherson region, with more than 5,100 such attacks recorded in nine months — double the previous year’s figures — which are considered crimes against humanity.

The recent UN commission report documents cases of systematic violence against civilians, including deportations and drone strikes on civilian infrastructure in occupied territories.

Combined efforts by international organizations and Ukrainian authorities must aim at thorough and objective documentation of these crimes and bringing the offenders to justice, since impunity only encourages further aggression and malicious actions.
