Night Strikes in Russia: Attacks on Energy Infrastructure in Vladimir and Oryol

Chas Pravdy - 05 November 2025 07:39

On the night of November 5, Russia’s energy infrastructure faced new strikes, causing widespread disruptions at critical facilities in two regions — Vladimir Oblast and the city of Oryol.

According to official reports and sources, drones launched the attacks, leading to series of explosions and damages on energy facilities.

In Vladimir Oblast, a substation supplying electricity to the city was hit, and rescue and repair operations are underway to restore normal vital services.

The regional governor, Alexander Avdeev, urged residents to remain calm and assured that all efforts are being made to quickly repair the damaged infrastructure.Meanwhile, in Oryol, powerful explosions occurred near the local thermal power plant (TPP).

Local residents and analysts reported that the blasts were significant and likely missile attacks.

Defense systems reportedly intercepted enemy drones, but debris damaged several private homes and auxiliary structures.

Locals claim the attack was missile-based, a version supported by OSINT-analysts.

Reports indicate that a military facility named ‘Oreltekmash,’ producing machinery for military equipment servicing and evacuation, is located close to the TPP.

Prior to this, on October 31, the Orel TPP had already been targeted by Neptune cruise missiles, which caused substantial power outages in the city. These incidents reveal a pattern of targeted attacks on critical infrastructure in Russia, reflecting Ukraine’s enhancing countermeasures to ensure regional security.

The local populations and authorities continue to call for calm and swift response efforts to repair damages and restore normal life conditions amidst ongoing hostilities.
