A major aviation disaster has shaken Louisville, Kentucky, prompting widespread concern and emergency protocols.

On Tuesday evening, a UPS cargo aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, causing a large fire and prompting authorities to issue urgent safety measures.

The crash occurred around 5:15 PM local time, involving a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft en route to Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to reports, a technical malfunction during the takeoff sequence led to the aircraft losing control, resulting in a devastating crash.

The incident resulted in multiple casualties, though the exact number remains undisclosed, and authorities have so far confirmed that several people were injured.

The ensuing fire spread rapidly, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky, causing nearby residents to be advised to seek shelter and stay indoors to avoid inhaling toxic fumes and debris.

Emergency services, including firefighters, police, and rescue teams, are on the scene working tirelessly to contain the blaze and assist survivors.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed that the situation remains critical, with ongoing efforts to extinguish the fire and assist those affected.

He urged citizens to avoid the area, as many roads have been closed off to facilitate emergency operations.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear also visited Louisville, warning that the incident is very serious and calling for prayers for the victims’ families.

Louisville’s airport, the hub of UPS Worldport, is the primary international cargo processing center handling most of the region’s express deliveries and shipments.

The situation continues to evolve as authorities work to ensure safety and manage the aftermath of this tragic accident.
