German Court Sentences Palliative Nurse to Life Imprisonment for Serial Murders: Possibility of Parole After 15 Years
In Germany, a court has sentenced a palliative care nurse, working at a clinic near Aachen in western Germany, to life imprisonment after a detailed trial.
The nurse was found guilty of killing ten patients with lethal injections between December 2023 and May 2024, and attempting to murder another 27 individuals.
Recognized as a particularly serious crime, this verdict grants her the possibility to seek early release after serving 15 years.
However, the sentence is not final and can still be appealed. This is not the first such case in Germany; in 2019, another nurse received a life sentence for the murder of 85 patients.
On a broader scale, a Ukrainian citizen was sentenced to life in prison in Indonesia for participating in a large-scale drug cartel operating on the popular tourist island of Bali.
Meanwhile, Germany plans to increase its financial support to Ukraine in 2026, allocating up to 11.5 billion euros, underscoring ongoing international cooperation and aid.
