Deputy Director of ‘Atomenergomash’ detained for bribe allegations: large-scale corruption scheme at a state nuclear enterprise

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office jointly exposed a significant corruption scheme at the state enterprise ‘Atomenergomash,’ which is part of ‘Energoatom.’ According to investigations, the deputy general director of the ‘Atomenergomash’ branch was detained while receiving an illegal benefit exceeding 1.67 million hryvnias, approximately equivalent to 40,000 US dollars.

Operatives established that she systematically demanded money from a construction company representative in exchange for ensuring timely payments for completed repair works and facilitating the fulfillment of contractual obligations between the companies.

Reportedly, monthly ‘commissions’ ranged from 10 to 15 percent of the contract value.

Over half a year, this official received around 1.67 million hryvnias in benefits, while her total demands exceeded 6.6 million hryvnias.

The detention was conducted under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, with measures including the seizure of funds and documents.

Ongoing investigative activities aim to clarify all circumstances of the illegal activities and hold the perpetrators accountable, NABU reports.
