Searches on NABU Employee: NABU Denies Allegations of Illegal Surveillance by OGP

Chas Pravdy - 04 November 2025 21:32

The controversy surrounding recent searches conducted on a National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) employee in Ukraine continues to unfold.

The Office of the Prosecutor General (OGP) claimed that these actions were triggered by suspicions of unlawful surveillance of the OGP administrative building.

However, NABU officials emphasize that their staff member acted strictly in accordance with the law.

They pointed out that, even during wartime, Ukraine does not prohibit the documentation and recording of operational investigative activities in the course of corruption investigations.

According to NABU, their employees have the legal right to carry out documentational activities without prior approval from the prosecutors, unless such actions are directly related to procedural management of a specific criminal case.

The bureau further stated that all actions were lawful and called for other authorities to refrain from interfering with NABU’s investigations, stressing the importance of independence in combating corruption.
