Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently held a pivotal meeting with representatives from some of the world’s most influential countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Canada, and the Netherlands — NATO allies.
The meeting primarily focused on coordinate efforts for further military assistance, protection of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and intensified sanctions against Russia.
According to the presidential press service, Zelensky expressed sincere gratitude to his partners for their significant contributions.
Germany committed to providing Patriot missile systems, the US offered opportunities to purchase modern weaponry and air defense systems through the PURL program, the UK and France pledged to supply missile systems, while Canada and the Netherlands reaffirmed support for the PURL initiative.
Zelensky emphasized that international aid is vital for Ukraine, saving lives of both military personnel and civilians.
Discussions also covered preparations for winter, including procurement of air defense systems, strengthening tactical aviation, and ensuring energy security.
Special attention was given to continuing and intensifying sanctions against Russia.
US NATO ambassador Matthew Wataker noted ongoing negotiations for aid packages scheduled for November and December, including delivery of Patriot systems and PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles to protect critical infrastructure.
Zelensky thanked the US for sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil, and the EU for the 19th sanctions package.
The regions of Luhansk and Donetsk are preparing for the winter by acquiring additional air defense systems and addressing energy challenges.
The Ukrainian president called on allies to persist in pressuring Russia to halt the war and restore peace.
Additionally, a new coalition is being formed to safeguard Ukraine’s energy system and stabilize its energy sector, which remains crucial amid ongoing hostilities.
